HERTS NOTEBOOK

Notes from the Section Secretary

Four forthcoming events that I'd like to draw your attenton to. The annual AGM on 13th November. It'd be good to have some of you along to give your views, vote, and maybe join the committee that guides the club. I will lead a ride starting from WhCP with a pick up at St Marys church hall, you can easily do a car assisted ride if you want to.

The Annual Dinner has been a calendar fixture for as long as I can remember. This year an informal Lunch is being organised at The Lytton arms. It's different from past events, no speaker, no band, no dancing - just good food, good beer, good company and a few medals and cups to hand out. Please lend your support to this event - contact Brian Jackson directly.

Lunch menu choices for 20th Nov are
Main course

Homemade steak and ale pie
Chicken and mushroom en croute
Salmon lime and coriander
Mushroom, brie, rocket filo basket (vegetarian option)

Desserts

Spotted dick and custard
Apple crumble and custard
Lemon meringue and cream

With coffee, the cost is £12.95, cheques payable to Brian Jackson please.

The Midweek Rides annual feast is to be held at Water End Barn, St.Albans on Wednesday evening 2nd Nov at 8pm - booking essential - please let Steve Brazier know if you intend to come.

The Sunday ride on 18th Dec is the last this year and will be a feastive lunch - please let Carol know if you are coming as she will request a table reservation.

Hargreaves Trophy

Congratulations to Richard who has successfuly won the Hargreaves cup back from Fred. Although Fred has unfortunately missed a few rides after his accident Richard pretty much already had it in the bag. Congratulations to Carol as the highest placed Lady. The 2006 competition is already underway - guess who is in front?

For the statistically minded among you, the maximum possible was 172 points, the total number of points awarded was 1403. The average number of riders was 9.57 per ride; that is any part of a ride. Richard came out on 43 rides.
